In 1953, television reporter Irv Kupcinet was in London to cover the coronation of Ellizabeth II. In one of the drawers in his room at the Savoy he found some items that, by their identification, belonged to a man named Harry Hannin. Coincidentally, Harry Hannin – a basketball star with the famed Harlem Globetrotters – was a good friend of Kupcinet’s. But the story has yet another twist. Just two days later, and before he could tell Hannin of his lucky discovery, Kupcinet received a letter from Hannin. In the letter, Hannin told Kucinet that while staying at the Hotel Meurice in Paris, he found in a drawer a tie – with Kupcinet’s name on it….

The twin brothers, Jim Lewis and Jim Springer, were separated at birth, adopted by different families. Unknown to each other, both families named the boys James. Both James grew up not knowing of the other, yet both sought law-enforcement training, both had abilities in mechanical drawing and carpentry, and each had married women named Linda. Both had sons, one of whom was named James Alan and the other named James Allan. The twin brothers also divorced their wives and married other women – both named Betty. And they both owned dogs which they named Toy.

Thanks to a mistranslation it is WOMEN who give chocolate to men in Japan!

Valentines Day is always a special occasion for some and a day to be avoided for others, and while Westerners have their customs, they are not the same throughout the World.

Originating as a Western holiday, it was not brought to Japan until 1936, when chocolate companies were aiming for the business of foreigners.

Because the holiday was so new and alien to the Japanese, they were not sure exactly how the day usually went. When an executive at a chocolate company was translating an advertisement, he mistranslated “men” and “women” resulting in the complete opposite of what we know!

In Japan, it is now common for women to give their male friends and co-workers chocolates instead!

The greatest living flying ace is 95, had 222 air kills, and was shot down 16 times!

Born in 1917, Major Erich Rudorffer is a German who was a Luftwaffe fighter ace during World War II. He served the Germans for the entire war, which only a handful could say they did. Rudorffer is the 7th most successful fighter pilot in the history of air warfare.

He is currently the oldest jet fighter ace and the most successful fighting ace alive. He claimes 222 air kills and fought in all the major German theaters of war.

He flew more than 1000 combat missions during World War II and was engaged in aerial combat over 300 times. He himself was shot down 16 times and had to use his parachute 9 times.

He flew for Australia and later PAN-AM after the war. He then became a flight instructor in Germany in the late 1960s. In the 1970s he owned a gas station and he likely didn’t return to flying after that.

was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot in a theatre named ‘Ford’.
Kennedy was shot in a car called ‘Lincoln’ made by ‘Ford’.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both their wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy,
Lincoln was shot in a theatre and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse..
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theatre.

Booth and Oswald were both assassinated before their trials.

And here’s the kicker…

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe………
